Dear Friends of Harmony

Our call to action in this time of uncertainty and distortion is to redefine how we experience community, connection, and support through a paradox of separation. Yet, as we pause in the weight of this unprecedented moment to look forward, our organization is confident that we as a community have the power to do so. The spirit of Harmony Community Development Corporation (Harmony CDC) is defined by our shared vision to transform communities to become whole and empowered.

As I stated in our 2020 annual report:

This monumental effort was accomplished through the dedication of our Harmony staff who work tirelessly and selfishly to serve so many families. The work that they do is not a job but a “calling” and commitment to serve our community.

  • 522,270 pounds of food were provided to the community.
  • 25,549 individuals were served. (189 percent increase from 2019)
  • 20,492 volunteer hours were provided.
  • 9,139 families were served. (77 percent increase from 2019) 3,200 community holiday food boxes were distributed.
  • 1,641 counseling sessions were offered to men, women, couples, and youth.
  • 410 people received rental, mortgage, and utility assistance.
  • 21 participants successfully completed the eight-week Harmony Empowered Living Program.

We have long believed in the power of catalyzing movement-building for strengthening families and revitalizing neighborhoods. Harmony CDC was founded in 2001 by Concord Church and revitalized in 2007 to advance God’s presence through community-driven and solution-oriented approaches. This year as we celebrate 20 years, we embark on the anniversary of remarkable strides toward impacting the community and enriching the organization's social services.

Your support will not only move the needle on our current programs but continue to afford us the opportunity to address changing community needs during this unprecedented time. Harmony CDC’s activities in 2021, like those of every organization, continue to take place in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. The need continues to rise as Harmony CDC pushes these initiatives onward and upward for the individuals, families, and communities served every day.

I ask that you consider serving as a sponsor this year as we continue to innovatively build strategies to transform communities to become whole and empowered.

Yours in service and partnership,

Mark Porter
